Saw a great photo-op in this corn field and decided to experiment with DoF with my new 35mm and 50mm f1.8 primes on a Nikon D5300.
Thoughts/C&C welcome.
(p.s. - Before anyone raises a question - I just noticed I mis-typed "55mm" in title. My mistake. It is a 50mm f1.8 prime.)
I like what you've done here GWZ, very good observation and textural set,---nice work,
Geoff

Lovely shots. The dof really works well to add emphasis to your subjects.

Thank you all for your comments and observations. It was a fun project to do. I will probably head back out and try some other shots in the field on another day to see what I can come up with.
The more I shoot with primes the more I enjoy it. The image quality is better than that of my zoom. But what I am growing to really appreciate is that I am having to slow myself down and think/work through the composition before even putting the camera in place. I hate to take a picture and then crop 50% (or whatever) out because I did not spend the time thinking about the image. Since I have these great primes I want to be sure that I leave as much as possible in the picture.
Very well done. You have an excellent 'Photographer's Eye'.
Sorry--I just don't see the point of photographing a used-up cornfield. Maybe the third one has some possibility. These are a lot better than an unnamed member who posted a lone stalk standing in a field that was also swooned over.
