My winters are spent in Apache Junction, AZ. with the Superstition Mountains just a short distance from my home. I try to spend as much time as I can hiking this historic and exciting area of the state. Wildlife is everywhere so my camera usually gets a pretty good workout.
The photo of the Bighorn Sheep was taken this February in Hog Canyon. They were at a pretty good distance so I was maxed out at 12X zoom and I had to crop the photo to obtain the results shown. (My most recent camera is now the Canon SX40 with 35X zoom)
The second photo was taken taken just last week on Friday the 13th while I was hiking along the Peralta Trail. The Eastern Collard Lizard, was a cooperative subject and not in the least bashful. I was able to get several shots of this guy before I continued my hike.

Love the lizard. Makes me want to paint him. I'm using my photos even further and drawing and painting from them. The lizard has great colors to reproduce in gouache!

That's one colorful lizard, I hope you gave him a bug for posing like that. Hearing you speak of Apache Junction and the Superstition Mountains brings back memories. A beautiful area indeed, have you searched for the gold in those mountains? 8-)
Any sign of the Dutchman or his lost mine?
Love the lizzard shot. Lived in Chandler for eight years and I miss the rustic beauty.
Hi,
I like you spend the winter in Queen Creek and summer in Colorado. Like your photo's and maybe we can have a cup sometime and take photos.
I'm retired from hi tec.
Cheers,

I love the colors of the lizard! The blue just pops against the oranges and browns :) would be a great photo to paint.
