I started to have a problem with my photos having an outline around the edges of them. I have tried different lens to no avail. I am starting to wonder if it is my moniter. However I put a picture on facebook and viewed it on another computer and it was still there. I am inclosing a picture that demonstrates the problem.

Now that's a FINE example of over-processing a heavily cropped image.

My first thought is over sharpening.

whatever you are doing in photoshop, stop.
It isn't working anyway.

High contrast as Ron suggests plus probably to much sharpening. On my monitor there is quite a lot of 'liney' noise around the birds heads at magnification so its probably not all a PP problem. It also looks a little soft on the feathers too. possibly a bad starting point photo using the wrong aperture, or too large a crop factor.

Thanks for reply MT. I should not have used that photo. I will send another that is straight out of the camera that is a JPEG. I had been screwing around with that trying to make it better and succeeded in making it worse.

Ron, the overcast sky is bright and the eagles are so dark I have a hard time getting the correct exposer. The first picture I sent was a RAW converted to JPEG and I tried a lot of different things to see if I could help it and in the process made it worse I have sent another JPEG straight out of the camera that demonstrates the problem to MT. Please take a look bud

First one below is adjustments to brightness and levels, using Photoshop Elements 13. I know it's not as light as you made your first, but I don't see a problem with an "outline."

Second one adds some detail using Nik Color Efex detail extractor.

With a raw file, you should be able to adjust exposure in the raw editor, then work from there. As mentioned, don't sharpen so much :)

Point the camera at something very dark to set your exposure. Like a dark tree in the shade. something that approximates the exposure of the eagles.

Is the dark line just the contrast between the sky and the eagles? My old eyes dont see it.

That was my thought too. Line shows up as a purple outline. Wonder if you use post to remove if it will make a difference...
