I'd be grateful for a spot of advice from you experts.
About every three days when I try to get on to internet I get a message---Unable to open internet as network protocol is missing. I can get back with Restore but that's a lengthy business.
I have Windows 10 and have recently changed my supplier.

Off the top of my head, based on the limited info - get a look at your network card drivers - see if there are any errors or warnings being shown in device drivers and go from there.
It sure sounds like it is a driver issue.
Edit: When you say recently changed your supplier, do you mean your internet service provider (ISP)?

Are you running any anti-virus applications?

Yes I mean my provider and yes I am running Windows Defender.
I'm sure I cant help you, sorry, but is this another reason NOT to install Win 10 ?
I have a Win10 system up and running and have had no problems. I agree with Don - check your system for driver mismatches (most likely cause) or an intermittent hardware issue (less likely). In my 50 years in IT I've seen some really strange errors caused by a faulty driver so that is my first guess.
Also, if like my first try your system is older (mine was 8 or 9 years old running Win7/Pro) it may be that your hardware, while accepting the Win10 load, simply can't perform correctly. That's what happened to me and why I had to buy a new system ... the old one was great until the November update when it simply crunched and things stopped working. Met the minimum Win10 requirements but couldn't handle it. That's now a Linux box of course :)
Good luck!
