Today I changed my plans after finding out that Strands Beach in Southern California was experiencing BIG surf. I love photographing BIG waves and I jumped on it.

Fun? I'm glad I was NOT out there! Those waves are very dangerous and difficult to paddle out to the lineup. Maybe you would like to be out there for "fun"! Thanks for checking this out Pixelmaven.

The action shots are super as always but I really like the compositions of the surfers looking out into the water. Nice work Brent.

Hahahahahahahaa..........abc1234 I just specialize in surfing photos. It's my favorite subject. My second favorite is hot air balloons. You can't go wrong with either of those in my opinion!

Thanks docshark.....I presume you are talking about #7. This was a typical scenario....the surfers would just stare at the waves for quite a while then go out. Often times a surfer will check out the waves and figure out the best place to go. I think some of them were just trying to get up the nerve to go out!

It looks like part of the wave in picture 12 is trying to beat the rest of the wave to shore. Interesting shot.
