My daughter is on break from UCLA.
She wanted to go to an on-line gamer's event in Oakland.
My wife wanted Mommy-Daughter time.
So she drove Jasmine to Oakland yesterday.
Before they left I got together with Jasmine and we went over the lenses we own. (She has a Canon T2i and I have the 6D & 7DII.)
Her camera bag has room for the body and 4 lenses.
We took out her two kit lenses (18-55 & 75-250) and the 100 mm Macro I got her. We left in the 50 mm f1.8 and the 18-135 I got her. We put in my 70-300 IS USM and my Tamron 10-24.
My wife just called to tell me Jasmine is in love with the 10-24. The event is at a park with woods, lake (filled with migrating water fowl) etc. and she is going wild with that lens.
Debra says she hasn't seen Jasmine this giddy and fun filled since she was 4 or 5 and used to sing along with the stereo and spell out "D I P - dip" then giggle and urge me to do it faster as my Astro van went over the one near our house.
I may have lost my ultra wide zoom.
I can live with that and only regret I am not there to witness her being giddy.

If it's gotta go, could there be a better place?

It would be hard to find a better place.
I just wish I could see her being giddy and enjoying it so much.
3 1/2 years of UCLA Pre-Med have turned Jasmine into a very serious and stressed out young lady at times.

Know the territory -- been done for a few years. Engineers / Div 1 athletes. Mine cheered up quite a bit, after school but are still kind of serious. Then again, unlike me, they are Grownups!

Great story and a good home for that lens. This will definitely lead to a GAS attack on your part...

Yes, it is.
Good thing I have a $500+ gift card from the KEH buyer that visited the local camera store a while back. I may need a new wide angle, or something.

Yes, but I may get to use all of her stuff. She is a senior in Premed and is leaving all her photo gear at home so it doesn't distract her.
She also says she has multiple thousands of pictures on her computer and various memory cards and has never culled the rejects or anything. She says that since I have LR etc. I can do that for her.
Guess she doesn't want me to get bored from lack of things to do.
Isn't that so sweet and thoughtful of her?

She will soon get tired of the lens and when she dumps it make sure you get it back.

Mine's a Nikon, but on a recent vacation I discovered that it really is a great lens. I never did use the 70-200mm.

She may live in the dorms/apartments when school is in session but her room here at home is where 90% of her stuff is at. All of her camera gear is staying since she says that she doesn't need the distraction and hasn't got the time anyway. Premed doesn't seem to be a rather intense course of study.
She will be home and probably doing photography for the next 4-5 weeks of the between quarters break.

I have only used it a few times. Not into wide angle landscapes, but on my list of things to learn.

I am too into birds and esp waterfowl at the moment. I am doing a container garden in the back yard aimed at hummers, butterflies and other flower loving creatures. Complete with milkweed for the Monarchs.

I got the lens in the first place because I already have high grade lenses that cover everything from 24 to 600 mm and a prime at 14 mm. 24 to 400 I have covered with Canon L glass. Then up to 600 is Tamron.
