I purchased a new, unopened Canon Pixma Pro-100 purchased from a very nice lady from Craigslist. The woman gave me her receipt, the printer was only 1 week old when I bought it.
Question to anyone else who's bought one of these of the used but new market. How did you register it to get the warranty? The purchaser said I can register it in her name if there are any issues, she will work with me.
I'd prefer to register it in my name if possible. What do you think? I'd even like to purchase an extended warranty. I'm very happy with the printer so far.
I only have one issue. I printed some DVD's on white printable DVD's. I used the Photo Garden or Image Garden software that comes with the printer. The colors were off. A burgundy background printed brown.
When I print onto photo paper from PS CC The colors are great. But I don't know how to print onto a DVD from PS yet.
Thanks, Dave

I purchased a "New" un-opened Canon Pixma Pro 100 on ebay from a person that got the printer as part of Canon's special deal, they received the rebate from Canon and I had no problem registering the printer in my name when I purchased it. I have no suggestions for your second issue, I have not attempted printing DVDs.

I have the same printer, but I haven't printed on DVD's. For that, I use an HPC5280. It could be the software that's messing up the colors. I use a separate program called "SureThing Disk Labeler Deluxe Gold 6." I wonder if they shortened that name from something else. :D
It lets me print anything associated with discs and boxes. The program that does the printing would have to be set up to print on discs, either by the programmers or the user.
When you order the blank discs, be sure to specify "hub-printable," otherwise, you get a big circle of clear plastic in the center. Supermedia store is a good source.
I would like to introduce you to a new UHH section called
Printers and Color Printing Forum at
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-120-1.htmlOnce you get the info you want, please "Report Issue" to Admin, requesting to move this thread to the Printer Forum. That way, other UHH members with color printers can benefit from your thread.

And others that don't frequent the printers thread will miss out. How about having a reference or link to follow instead? This is like the balkanization of the internet, a separate app for everything.
I know the printer forum is your pet project right now, but I for one find your suggestions in this matter unhelpful, not helpful. We could just as usefully suggest sending all printer related discussions to the attic!

Product registration shouldn't be a problem, I have used it for 9000 mk II printer purchased in similar ways, also for used equipment purchased from e-bay, unless Canon has changed their policies.
The 9000 mk II didn't support CD/DVD printing as standard for some licensing reasons in the USA, but with a firmware update (Canon Europe), the purchase of a CD/DVD tray and the removal of a plastic cover it performs like a champ. There is some old, and a little clunky, free piece of software called CD-LabelPrint that does a fine job. Canon Easy Photoprint is the new utility, but it seems to want to impose formatting restrictions which makes it easy, but also stupid and restrictive...
Not sure about the color matching with PS, I've never tried it, but I haven't had any similar problems with printable disc media on several different brands....

On this forum, in two days this thread will be on page 6. I
suggested to OP, that
after he receives his answer, to move this thread to the Printer Forum, where it will be on page 1 for days, and be found by other UHH members interested color printing.

Yes, but those that are interested and respond or select to watch will find it anyway. Those that don't visit the printer section will not see it at all.
I think what I'm really suggesting is a mechanism that doesn't just move things and eliminate the title from the main section, but leaves a redirection link in the main section. Now for the political / non-photography stuff I see no need for that, but for some photography related topics that are of interest to the general population of UHH, having an increasing number of specialist sections serves to dilute the overall value of the forum.
I've said this to you before. I'm not going to check into lots of different sections unless I actually do have a specialist interest. Macro or Astronomy are specialist areas. Printers are not, except for some very esoteric discussions.
You are in danger of making UHH more trouble than it is worth with advocating for too many specialist areas unless the general section remains sufficiently relevant and interesting to the larger community.
The original question in this thread is pretty general in its nature, even though it did have a more detailed secondary question.
What in your opinion makes it appropriate to move it to a specialized section? What about the move but link idea? Could meet all objectives....

I'm sorry to see that. It's gotten to the point where the twenty-eight sections should be alphabetized.
Will there be a section for B&W printing?
I imagine that if the printer has never been registered, then it's simply a matter of registration.
With Canon CPS, if an item has been previously registered with them, that item has to be unregistered first, before it can be reregistered.
I just assume the regular product registration is the same, since one serial number probably can't occupy two spaces at the same time!!! Just saying. ;-)
