Counting down to Friday's Brown truck approaching...

It'll be carrying a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary, my Christmas gift to myself. I went to a local photo expo where there were Sigma reps, but they would only drop the price $50. They had better deals on older lenses like the 18-250, but were stingy on newer models. Online, I was able to get a bundle with extra goodies like a monopod, lens cleaning kit and few other things. Hoping this satisfies my most recent bout with GAS for awhile...

Right on, Ron. I've taken some pretty amazing photos over the last year or two with whatever was handy, sometimes, GASP, even a cell phone. And got asked how I did it, what kind of camera I had, etc. The only thing worse than the IWAC, is the person that looks at one of your pride and joy WOW photos and say "That's a great picture. You must have a REALLY good camera." Argh... I love good equipment, and it does help, but it can't help you stalk that bird or bride as you mentioned.

Ho, Ho!

Merry Christmas to you and your kit! Satisfy your most recent bout? Nah, ain't gonna happen. Satisfy your eyesight with photographs? Yah, gonna happen lots of times. Aren't holidays fun to celebrate with gifts? Hey, there's another one coming up in a few weeks.

You will be proud of it I am sure. You will get some great pics. I have the Tamaron version and I am will satisfied.
I had the G.A.S. attack about two weeks ago and was looking on Canon's refurbished for a full frame when I noticed that the their 10 22 wide angle was on sale at 149.00 so I went for that lens and saved about thousand dollars I would have to spend on a full frame, gas attack gone for few weeks I hope.

Sorry, the truck stopped at my house to deliver my new printer a refurb Epson XP950... Refurb means someone else had the trouble and the exchange etc.. and I got a printer that has been thoroughly checked out and is $100 less that other best deals... Direct from Epson.

The driver asked directions to Austin Texas... Up 75 and across Rt 10 I told him.. added turn left on 10... He only delivered photo related things... Bet your lens is on that brown truck ...

Marry Christmas Don... thank you Don. When I buy myself a Christmas present... I open it and say.."Oh!! Just what I wanted ... thank you." Usually use a mirror to add reality to the joy.

Enjoy Mr PC

Nice choice of gifts! Too bad Christmas only comes once a year. I like how Old Timer handles his G.A.S. attacks. By something a whole lot cheaper and celebrate how much money you've saved. Great idea. Too funny.

You did hear, didn't you, that UPS went on strike last night?

Sorry, just couldn't help myself! I'll go fill my stocking full of coal now!
Hope you enjoy the new lens!

GAS is like pimples, it always comes back. Only one solution - change hobbies only not to wood working.

Truck got here a day early and I was able to get about a half hour of shooting in before dark. I've had it out a couple of times more. It's a cut above what I had in the Sigma 150-500. I can tell the autofocus is faster, the Image Stabilization is stronger (for you Canon guys, it's OS on a Sigma lens) and it has a couple of new features. It has a Manual Override on the Autofocus switch, besides on and off. It means I can twist the focus ring to my heart's content when I have a bird in a tree and I need to focus through limbs, leaves, etc without changing any settings and it autofocuses again the second I hit my back-button focus. It also locks at every major focal length. My 150-500 would creep out while walking unless I locked it at 150mm, the only choice. Now I can lock at 400mm if I want to and leave it there. Plus, it doesn't creep even when unlocked. Finally, it's 4 ounces heavier than my old Bigma, so it will be good for keeping me in shape. I hiked for an hour and a half this morning around our neighborhood pond and trails, with the body and monopod, it's like carrying half of a bowling ball. I can hand hold it in good light and was shooting at dawn on a monopod and getting respectable results. I'll post some images once I get them processed. The reach is great on a crop body and the IQ is good. Thanks for sharing in my GAS attack everybody!
