The foreground hair and eyebrow in focus, without anything else this is just not doing it for me Piet. A bit more lips or opened eye, maybe a bit of chin, some steam from the coffee.....I’m just not sure, but there isn’t enough here to hold my gaze.

Piet,
I like to think that even without the title I would mentally insert that hot cuppa Java directly below center giving its first hint of the lift it will give to the coming day!

To me, a strong image.
To one who didn't imagine the cup o'joe and missed the title...????!

Piet, I like this. I can easily imagine the start of the day, a cup of coffee, wisps of steam snaking upwards, and a quiet stillness. All of that accentuating the soft beauty of the moment.

How one reacts to this photo depends on the surroundings. To me the best would be in gray light early in the morning. Coffee perhaps, but also any situation from depression, prayer, or something simple like gazing at ones cell phone.

This is a photo that suggests rather than states in detail. Suggesting for some just doesn't cut it ... you know like the Mona-Lesa. This photo plays with light like classic paintings poorly lit paintings well done. French, 1593 - 1652 Georges de la Tour

Lovely image. Very nicely done. Don't think the title is good. Limits the imagination.

LOL - our minds seem very similar. My daughter was actually stealing coffee from the pot I had made. I was fiddling with the camera trying to understand AF and took a quick snap when she was by the window. She hates her noble nose - she is very pretty - though this is not a "pretty" picture!

Thank you very much Bob. As an image, this is one that most will like -- or NOT LIKE.

thank you DP. Definitely an image that demands participation from the viewer. And the results will be as many as their are viewers.

thank you Jim. I agree fully with you. Trouble with titles - they force you down a certain path!!!
