Tracks & Overpass - David Jones

Photograph by David N. Jones. This is a photographer I have been trying to get into UHH. He makes remarkable images. However, he is extremely busy and claims he doesn't have the time to devote to a site like this. I tend to think he is a little on the shy side.

Any way, here is one of his recent works For Your Consideration. If you have any thoughts I'll be happy to pass them on to him. No plug-in were used and it was as you see it here.

He does good work no question Mr. Hill. The story in the story here though for me is the artist that covered the graffiti.

Jim, I agree that Mr. Jones has a perceptive eye, more evidence of which I'd love to see posted here.

And Frank,
I couldn't be more delighted to see your comment. My first thought was one that has occurred to me before. The efforts of those attempting to obliterate graffiti can accentuates the sometimes intended -and sometimes unintended - cooperative creative and compositional input of a de facto coterie of contributors re: the the compositional impact of their combined works. It does, indeed, become a cooperative narrative of considerable complexity and calls to mind the challenges facing an archivist involved in analysis of a palimpsest.

Jim,
I agree that Mr. Jones has a good eye. I would, however, far rather have him submit images of his choosing for discussion with him than be limited to discussing them with a third party.

So would I.

I am working to overcome his shyness therefore I don't make demands upon him. I can only present opportunities.

I don't restate remarks in regard to his work. I simply provide the URL where he can find first hand what is being said about his photography.

David attended several of my workshops through U.C. Santa Cruz in the past as a young man and is one of several such students whose work has taken on significance in the ensuing years.

Let's not push him - alright?

(Edit: These are images of Mr. Jones own choosing..)

All 3 images are pretty impressive, but (probably because of my own photographic interests) the poplar image is the most striking. The balance of elements. the use of lines and the resultant 3-D effect makes me want it for my own. Excellent monochrome treatment as well.

Tell him how comfy and fun we are to hang out with. Hopefully he'll come around and join our merry band.

Jim, I appreciate your effort here. The first image pulled me right in, both visually and conceptually. The next images forced me to make this post. I would like to see more of David Jones work here or wherever he chooses to make it accessible. Thanks for this gentle push forward.
Regards, Phil

Jim, the "Poplar Study" is exceptional. Would definitely like to see more of David's work. He has a very keen eye.

When I look at Dumpster96396,I don't care to know what it was. I don't care if its rust, peeling paint, dents or scratches. What I see is ethereal shapes of stars or angels and graceful shapes, all enclosed in its own frame in a frame.
A solid image that peaks my interest in this genre.
