I experimented a bit because it belatedly occurred to me that you should be able to stitch images together BOTH vertically AND horizontally in the same image.

Tried it, and it worked in PSE. Made a pic that was 4x2 (4 wide, by two tall), for a total of 8 parts. Shot in RAW with a 24 megapixel sensor, so the file size was ginormous.

What's YOUR record?

300+ (2007)

I probably need to restitch it since the software has improved so much.

I shot that manually and live to regret it.

30. It was 6 sets of 5 multiple exposures for an HDR pano inside and ancient church in Copenhagen.

Wouldn't you want to shoot that in M for purposes of consistency?

I have played with, and continue to take pano's at every chance I get since discovering how relatively easy it really is.... a 25 shot vertical handheld (actually all my panos have been handheld) usually shot on manual.

A selection can be seen here if interested.

Oh, I should have used 'handheld'.

It was shot on A-Mode, manual focus and I broke several rules like changing the focus... I used a D300.

My file format was... argh... JPG. I was not even remotely aware of how good raw was.

I think the indoor arena, the beaches, and the brick walk were my favorites. Excellent!

Thanks - I am always amazed just how simple a task it really is, and tend to see pano's everywhere when I shoot now ;)

I haven't seen a limiting factor for this yet. Did a night shot of Stars using a 200mm lens. Three rows of 3 and it came out perfect. And I have seen even more than this, but if you have the ground showing, you have to watch out for ghosting.

You will need to download to see how this turned out. The stars are too tiny otherwise. I did not use stacking on this, so you can see tiny star trails.

147 (7 HDR x 21) Total file finished 2Gb Print size 150" x 10" @300dpi. Should have shot in portrait instead of landscape but the results were amazing.

Can you describe briefly how to use stacking to accomplish this?

Great selection! I adore panos, but how do you do it with people, don't they move?
