This is the last part of the Rhine / Moselle cruise images.
#1 Wine country. Along the banks of the Rhine are many vinyards.
#2 An almost acceptable image of another castle along the Rhine.
#3 In the distant past, parts of the river were privately owned. This is a
toll booth of sorts. Anyone trying to sneak past was fired upon via
bow and arrow.
#4 Amaryllis in a flower show in Amsterdam.
#5 A wider view of the houses along a canal.
#6 Narrow streets in the old part of Strasbourg. Note that buildings all
overhang the ground floor. Buildings were taxed by the area of the
ground floor so most expanded the space on the second floor and
above.
#7 Stained Glass Window.
#8 Rip-off wine shop. We tasted some fresh, water-white wine and on
that basis I ordered 12 bottles, which arrived about six weeks after
we arrived home from the tour. The bottles showed a rather deep
amber color indicating that they were probably a couple years old.
They didn't taste very good.
#9 Narrow street with shops on each side.
Really nice - - - and it makes me a good bit jealous.
I did three Army tours in Germany (started in '61 - ended in '81), and I can't tell you how much I'd love to go back for some 'picture taking'! Maybe someday . . .

Thanks for the great photos, hopeful my wife and I can do that cruise in 2018
What cruise line did you use
A great set of images. Brings back memories. Viking cruises does a nice job on the Rhine.
We are sailing Viking next year, Amsterdam to Lucern. Your images are making the trip even more enticing. Any advice you can offer to enhance the journey? Check out my post re a Swan on the Amstel River and let me know what you think.
Absolutely stunning shots, Ron! I just love looking at photos like yours.

Our cruise started in Lucerne and ended in Amsterdam so we were going in the other direction. My only advice would be to take a LOT of pictures.
The cruise past castles on the Rhine calls for a telephoto, but a moderate one, perhaps 100mm on a crop sensor and 150 on a full frame.
We went as part of a group of alumni of Northwestern University. I don't remember the cruise company name but the river cruise boat was the Europa which had just recently been remodeled. I'm sure from the commercials I've seen, that Viking will give you an excellent tour.
Take advantage of all the side excursions you can.
I will check out your post mentioned above.

You seem to enjoy my posts. My rules for posting are fairly simple. The image must have a clearly defined subject and have acceptable tonal range, color balance, and reasonable sharpness. I don't show images that don't meet those rules.
Unfortunately I am a better technician than artist.
