Just got my refurb D7100 yesterday. Did not include software CD, but card inside manual directed to go to Nikon website to download the latest version of the software.
Installation process became stuck at Additional Installation stage and never proceeded to final Summary stage. Had to do opt-cmd-del to force-quit the installer. Happened on both the iMac and the MacBook Pro.
Running 10.11.1 El Capitan OS.
Do I even need this software? Id previously just used iPhoto.

Depends... if you shoot JPG, then your post processing software is wide open, if you shoot raw, then there are fewer choices, but still plenty to avoid the mfg. software ;)
I myself did not care for View NX2, View NX-i or Capture NX-D, preferring to make use of products like Lightroom, Aperture, Picasa, and Darktable on my Mac.
It really depends on what you shoot and what it is you want to do for post processing.
I got view NX2. Had it for several years. Never could figure out how to do one thing on it. Still in the computer and I open it once in a while just to frustrate myself!

Is there a reason for not posting your guide in this forum?

That is a worthless piece of software. I don't need it. You have to be a real masochist to want it.

I had a hunch it would be. Thanks. Deleting it from my HD.
