I see that 42nd St Camera has the Fuji X-T1 body for $898. Free shipping. Is this place reliable?

42nd Street Photo has come up often.
A search here on the 'hog shows most advise avoiding it.

Stick with Adorama, B&H, Cameta and if you want used, KEH Camera in Atlanta is a good place.

It was introduced in April 2014, so it's old stuff. Selling in low count condition on eBay in considerable volume starting at $600 body only. Would expect to see refurbs soon if not already.

Wouldn't shop 42nd street based on historical reviews.

The X-T10 is a later model producing similar image quality for much less money.

A common refrain from purchasers of high end Fujifilm is high introductory prices and rapid decline. There have been many complaints along this line (regardless of the fine imaging of the unique Fujifilm sensors) a the two Fujifilm forums and on Rangefinderforum site.

Thanks everyone. I will avoid 42nd St. It's good to know that we have so many people willing to help on the UHH.

With unbelievable deals, one thing that screams "scam" is the price of accessories.
Take a look at the cost of these memory cards from 42nd street!
Lexar and SanDisc cards are less expensive than these.
Be afraid. Be very afraid!

In Shutterbug magazine, in their latest issue, while doing a review of another product they referred to the X-T1 as "long in the tooth". I agree with another responder that the X-T10 is a much better deal and a newer body. Also has pop up flash for those times when you need it and don't have external flash and X-T1 does not have one.

I also forgot to say there are differences between the cameras such as weather proofing ,an extra dial, size and I'm not sure of the other differences.

The value of a camera really isn't all that important unless one purchases it with the idea of selling and trying to recoup some of the money spent on it. If one intends to keep it a long time, then the monetary value or loss thereof, is of little consequence. The X-T1, based on what I've read (no actual experience with the camera) is a fine piece of equipment. The more rugged, weatherproofed body is a big plus if one plans on doing a lot of work in inclement weather. I'm not sure if it qualifies for being "long in the tooth," as it's not quite 2 years old yet.

If I were looking at Fuji, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up the X-T1. If the budget is a consideration, then the X-T10 is a less expensive alternative. It's basically the same camera, but built less ruggedly, using lighter materials. But the internals are the same, with all the same features and controls of the X-T1. Either way you won't go wrong, IMO.
