For the crop sensor you need the nikon 40mm micro f2.8 lens and your ES1. You get full coverage on the slide. Remember to shot in Raw and live view to maximize the focus!. I did over 9000 slides with the set-up and my Nikon D90. It took about a month at about 1+ hours a day. I saved a professional slide on Notre Dame wth fine pipes of the organ. I checked the focus about every 20 to 25 slides.

Thanks, but both my cameras are FX. I am focusing with an ancient manual converted to AI macro lens. I check focus on every slide through the finder. Everything works pretty well!
