590 is very red. Why did you suggest a 590 since 650 is typically the "sorta" cut off point. Do you have the 58mm adapter on your camera? I will soon be testing the camera for IR sensitivity as is (not converted). I did not find much doing a google... people leave off details as to which filter was used etc... to many IR is IR... not true.. big diff between 650nm and 950nm... BIG.

i had a 590nm on my sony, i liked the way pictures came out, using a screw on filter you have to focus, then add filter to camera

Honestly, a screw on filter doesn't do the work! I've tried that and the best way to get 590nm results is with a converted camera. That way both the white balance and focus is preset once the conversion is made. You will work twice as hard to get any results with an R72 (Hoya) filter and not be half as happy! I bought several converted cameras on eBay, both with the 590 IR filter and am much happier for it.

Of course. It's your judgement call. I'm passionate about infrared photography and never tire of exploring it. Glad you are of the same mind and heart. :-D
