African Safari Birds

I recently returned from a safari trip to the Masai Mara in Kenya. It was a challenging experience for me. I was just recovering from an operation for a detached retina in my right eye, and while on safari, went temporarily blind in my left eye. Needless to say, my photography was somewhat impaired. But safari photography turned out to be a lot like sport photography. You only get to quickly compose and shoot what is in your field of view. So not being able to see all the details wasn't as frustrating as I thought it would be.

My Panasonic FZ150 performed flawlessly and I really appreciated the image stabilization and the super zoom Here are a few of my best bird pics. Be kind, remember, they were taken by a blind man.

My vision is slowly improving, but I still am handicapped in evaluating detail in post processing.

Thanks to everone for there kudos. I think I enjoyed taking pictures of the birds more than the lions. Now if I could just identify all of them.

For anyone interested, this site has info on the wildlife of the Masai Mara http://maratriangle.org/maasai-mara/
