Lots of confusion in this thread.

sRGB is not a large color space, and it will do just fine on an 8 bit, 16.7m color display.

Apple uses a 27" LG IPS (LM270QQ1-SDA) 8 bit 16.7M colors

Dell's UP 2715K uses a 27" LG AH-IPS - (LM270QQ1) - True 10 bit, 1.074B colors

AH-IPS is newer tech - brighter, cleaner and tighter pixel matrix.

The Dell has greater bit depth (10 vs 8) for more colors displayed, making it a better display with the appropriate 10 bit card (ATI Fire Pro or NVidia Quadro).

Mac OS is now finally 10 bit capable, but they made the mistake of choosing DCI-P3 color space support - one that is used for cinema projection, and the color response is shaped to match the xenon bulb used in those projectors. It is NOT not optimal for photo editing, which is standardized on sRGB, AdobeRGB and ProPhoto RGB. P3 gives up greens and blues in favor of reds and yellows. Gamut mismatch can result in some untagged colors not displaying correctly, and some colors that can be displayed in AdobeRGB and printed on wide gamut printers not properly showing in the P3 color space. It seems like all new iMacs and other displays are standardized on P3.

Regardless, if you are serious about accurate color, you will need to get a decent color profiling tool.

If you are on a PC, get the Dell, it's clearly superior to the Apple in several ways.

If you are looking at the less costly Dells, then they are also better than the Apple displays, minus the bit depth and color accuracy.
