Trying to install LR6 on a Mac yesterday, I was told that I had reached my limit (2), and I would have to deactivate one to install on this machine. That's what I did, and it installed fine. That got me to wondering if any of you have bought two copies of LR to run on several computers.
Jerry I just downloaded CCPS/LR for the first time one week ago. Previously, I used only LR5. I work from two locations and travel, so I have two desk top computers and two laptops, one for serious work and one for travel that is a MacAir - small and light. So I will put my second copy on the MacAir so I am ready for a trip next month. Then I need to decide what to do and maybe will purchase a second set. One option is to de-activate the one desk top computer and then when I switch locations, activate the other.
I am not a fan of cloud storage so I am also trying to decide how to handle photo file storage and the catalog when I move back and forth. Last summer I put everything on a small external drive, and then when I came home, simply copied it over to the larger external drive and imported the catalog. I was pleased with this process and then reconfigured my backup system. Starting over with a full backup of 4.5T, I accomplished this in about 4 hours. I feared it would take days, but I have Thunderbolt II connections and it was super fast.
Sorry to see your post regarding Searcher. I hope he is ok. He was always helpful, and generous with his time. Once after I totally deleted my entire library, he helped me recover it. He worked on the problem over about 3 days. Let's hope we hear from him soon.

You must drink expensive coffee.

Mmmmmm Harsh words indeed. Perhaps in my case a poverty stricken pensioner engaged on a long term evaluation at the end of which I shall freely make my findings available to your buds at Adobe.
Have a great day looking down from your high horse.
You can have LR CC on as many computers as you want BUT only TWO active at any one time. Just un-activate one and activate an other one

I have Lt5 & 6 on my Mac. I will keep both until I am sure 6 is working fine then I will delete 5.

I have Adobe Cloud Photographer (LR and PS) loaded on four machines and I can easily move between those apps on any of them at anytime by just responding to the Adobe signin dialog saying I want to move it. Couldn't be easier. Prior to LR CC you could load it to as many machines as you want but PS and most other Adobe products including PSE had a two machine limit.

Adobe's system works quite well on multiple computers. The only stipulation is that you cannot have a "running" copy on multiple computers. However you can install it on as many computers as you want as long as you maintain just two operating copies. I have it installed on three computers and my android. I use it on one system the majority of time, my desktop. When I travel I use a small laptop with it installed on. When I run it on my laptop I will sometimes get the limit of two message. No problem, I just let the program sign me out of one of the other two systems. I have never had a problem going back and forth between three computers. It has worked flawlessly for 1-1/2 years.
One was enough.
I could not really get my head around it. Besides I open with the use of Adobe Bridge - "Open as RAW". and work the photo a bit there - bring it into Photoshop CS-5 - use some "filters" and Goodies in NIK software and save as TIF (for printing) and jpg for sending and display on the WWW.
I ended up giving it to my son who likes it. To me it was just redundant junk that I could better do as I have always done with RAW.... And I put the photos where I Want To with little and not hassle.
My son likes it and that is good for me - at least it did get used and not just shelved and or tossed out.
To each their own.

Maybe I'll install it on another iMac today and see what happens after 30 days.

Well, OK. Let me be the first to admit it. Yes, I did purchase 2 copies of LR-5. Got a really good deal, and I regularly used 3 different computers. One on location, one laptop for when I was working in the lazyboy, and my main desktop for the "serious stuff." I knew about activating and deactivating, but it just seemed easier to purchase 2 copies.
Now, I use CC, but leave LR-5 on the "location laptop", so I don't have to mess with a ctivating and deactivating things.
Call me lazy, but I think I got LR-5 for 1/2 price at a black Friday event, and I just got 2, so it was "like" purchasing one copy.

I wonder when they will stop selling the free-standing LR. I've run into anomalies while activating and deactivating LR and PS.
