Pretty good full moon picture taken with my Canon SX50

When I heard on the news last night (11/24/2015) that we had clear skies and a full moon I decided to try jetting a decent shot of it. Here is a copy of what I got, I am pretty happy with the results I got. I took the shot with my Canon SX50 on a tripod and used a cable release. I was shooting RAW, in Manual mode and had the camera set to ISO 100, Aperture f:/8 and a shutter speed of 1/125 sec. What do you think?

Great minds must think alike...I had never tried a moonshot with my SX50 but two nights ago gave it a try (not quite full then)...hand held and not as sharp as yours 1/1000, ISO 320, 6.5. Just adjusted exposure manually ended up about two stops under metered exposure.
Amazing little camera, I just went out there, fiddled for about 30 seconds, and came back in with this image.

Terrific! Well done. After over 70 years taking more than 20000 moon shots with 30 different cameras from Ansco, to Voightlander, Kodak, Leica, exacta, and a bunch of Canon's, some with a scope, many without, and finally the Canon SX 50, i'll come to one conclusion. The SX 50 has been the easiest, simplest, and fastest camera I have had to take moon pictures. It's an extraordinary little camera. I'm able to go outside set up usually without tripod, take a picture and seconds later come inside and download to the computer and the pictures are better than anything I took years ago. It's wonderful living in a digital age. How lucky we are!

You got a good shot. I had read up in the past and had notes that told me in general to try starting with Aperture either at f:/8 or f/11 and then set ISO to 100 and use shutter speed to 1/125 sec. It said the the shutter speed should match the ISO so you could use ISO 200 and 1/250 sec too. So far it pretty well seems to be a good starting point at any rate. I think it was called the "Loony 8" and "Loony 11" rules.

Can't use 11 on the SX50...there isn't one!

Yea, on the SX50 I had to go with the "Loony 8" since that is the smallest stop available on it.
