Of the Surgeon family, this shot I particularly like because of all the color contrasted by the subtle pinstripe suit pattern of the Goldring Surgeon fish. Focus is a bit off (it's a bit 'forward' of the fish) but, I still find it a 'fun' shot. Taken somewhere along the Kona coast - a site so secret that I don't even remember. Sony Nex-5, Magic Filter.
Goldring Surgeon Fish
That is beautiful. I've seen them before but not the details. I put it on my 24 in. monitor and my husband came around the corner and said "whoa, that's the best one I've seen". It also looks like it's eating out of a hand. I have an imagination. Really nice.
Very nice! And yes it does look like a hand.
I didn't see the hand before - Nice!
Todd has kindly corrected me, it is a Goldring Surgeonfish, not a Damselfish. The Goldring is endemic to Hawaii according to Hoovers (the fish ID bible of Hawaii.) Thanks Todd :-)
This would make an excellent "desktop" background for a PC monitor.
