Snow has arrived in the Great Lakes area

Twenty years ago I was puzzled when my brother, who lived in Tucson AZ at the time, went around taking various winter scene pictures. He explained how special snow is when you have to visit it. Now our daughter, who lives in San Diego CA, keeps telling me how much she misses weather that actually changes from day-to-day. Today's weather should have arrived a week later, when both of our daughters were here to enjoy it, and no one has to travel anywhere.

I thought of my brother as I headed off on my daily walk with serious snow falling around me. My Pentax camera system is described as being "weather resistant", so I figured I might as well just take it with me and see if a picture magically appeared. Then I saw this scene, and was so glad I'd brought it.

I'm sure the local Chamber of Commerce would want me to invite you to come up and share ours (BYO$). As a side benefit, you can see the lands where the Miami Indians actually lived.

I'm sure they'll be glad to hear of a kindred spirit.

If my wife gets her way and we retire to someplace without snow, then I'll truly understand it too.

Well done! I tell my warm weather friends, "It snowed here last night, you remember snow, It's in all the newspapers!"

Thank you very much.

Having been raised in this area, I guess I just view this as a part of my life.

I suppose I won't really value it until my wife makes us move to some place where this isn't a part of life.
