I have a wonderful 40 year old Mamiya Sekor 50mm f/1.8 lens that takes very sharp images. Looking for an adapter for my T2i. So far, I've found 2 sources but they are not ideal. 1: B&H photo has 1 for around $160!! I could get a nifty fifty for that. 2: E-bay, but there were a lot of negative comments. Such as some people didn't get it for almost 30 days, because coming from Hong Kong, or wherever. The comments that scared me were about how they fit (or didn't fit) on the camera, I'm concerned about damaging the mount on my T2i. E-bay had them listed anywhere between $12 & $30.

Does anyone here have one they are happy with, and can you tell me where you got it?? Thanx

I don't have that particular mount, but the adaptors I have seen from China were not worth the shipping price, much less the item cost.

I NEVER!!! use ebay to purchase anything outside the continental USA. Therefore I have few problems.

Thanx for the reply.

I was just on B&H website. I found 1 for only $20 with shipping. I don't know why the guy I spoke to only quoted me the $160 version, I've always gotten great service from them.

It is a Bower. I know nothing about the brand. I'll have to do some research, as I'm paranoid about damaging the mount on my camera.

For the Canon DSLR mount, any adapter will require an intermediate focusing lens in the adapter to achieve focus to infinity. This piece of glass is usually removable, which will allow you to use the adapter as an extension tube. The cheap adapters I have seen seem to work pretty well mechanically, but the built-in focusing lens is optical trash. Also your old film lenses are probably nowhere near the optical quality of any current Canon (or Nikon, Pentax, etc) lens you would buy. Don't know why for certain but mine never have the same look as my DSLR lenses. By comparison, Canon used to market their own branded adapter for around $600.00. It did work well from what I have read.

I have an M42 Screw mount to EOS with the little chip on it. It cost 10 or 15 on eBay. I use it with a Yashica 50mm 1.4. No problems at all.

Thank everyone.

The lens I want to use is a Mamiya Sekor 50mm f/1.8. All I know, is back when I shot film I used this camera and a Rebel. The Mamiya was ssooo much better than the Canon lens. Granted, it was a kit lens, but for a $20 adapter, I'm guessing it will be just as good (probably better) than the $120 nifty-fifty. I'm used to manual, so that doesn't bother me. The images I got with this lens were VERY sharp.

I had researched lens adapters for my canon t1i in order to use all the FD glass that I own. Like Zaurak32 mentioned Canon did make an adapter several yrs ago that worked well but was very costly & the cheep ones from China have cheep glass li MT Shooter had mentioned. The key I believe would be to find one that has no glass. Then you would shoot manual focus only. I susgest that you buy a 50mm 1.8. It is a great lens for the price. Good luck.

I just found a "Bower" on B&H for $20 with shipping. It has no glass, which is what I'm looking for. I have no ploblem shooting in manual modes.

My concern is getting a poorly machined one that may damage the mount on my camera.

Is that a M645 mount? If so try this:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=mamiya+eos+adapter&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Get one with the AF confirm chip on it so you don't have to go full manual all the time - that is the chip on my M42 to EOS adapter. You will be very pleased with the results.

I could be wrong, but none of these look like they have a piece of glass in them. That means image quality will not be compromised.

I have a screw-mount lens adapter to Nikon.
This enables me to use, Manually, much the same lens you are referring to.
I believe that I got it from either Adorama Or Fotodioux.com.
They both sell on eBay, and also have their own websites. I found that when ordering from their websites, the prices are a little less than when on eBay.
There are 2 types of adapters available. If you are looking the use the Mamiya 645 series lens, then you'll need that adapter.
The screw-mount lens adapter is also called a Pentax 42 adapter. The screw-mount adapter is for an older lens than the 645.
Hope all this info is correct. Just hate to send anyone down the wrong path.

I also have some older Mamiya Sekor lenses but am confused with the replies. Aren't the Mamiya Sekor lenses a mamiya bayonet mount, not screw?

Mamiya actually used a screw mount originally, then introduced THREE different bayonet mounts for their 35mm bodies (1971, 1975 and 1980). ALL were different from the 645 medium format bayonet mounts. Its no wonder they gave up on 35mm bodies altogether, they never could make up their minds about how to do it!

Thanks for the rapid reply MT. With three bayonet mounts my chances of getting adapters for my sony seem pretty slim.
Shame really because I have a beautiful Mamiya Sekor 12mm fish-eye which is valued at about $100+ I believe.
Hey Ho.

Just checked again. My mamiya lense are Mamiya Auto Sekor. Does that make a difference?

I'm lucky enough to still have the manual from my 1969 1000dtl. It list the lens as a m42 universal srew mount. I'm not sure if yours are bayonet, but have seen bayonet adapters on B&H. Just ordered the Bower m42 screw mount adapter. The guy at B&H assured me that he has never heard of the Bower damaging any body mount, and they sell a lot of these. Never been steared wrong by B&H before. Actually, he said that the most difficult part was adding it to the lens, not camera body, so mount it to lens first, then the body. He told me that people buy one for every lens they have, and just never take them off.

It will be here on Weds, can't wait to try out the Mamiya that I haven't used for years (shutter went, these cameras were known for that eventually. it was easier to buy one used for $50, than pay to repair shutter). Looking forward to having the ability to shoot at f/1.8!! If I remember correctly, it was sharp even wide open.
