Huckabee uses a song without permission and then gets mad because he is being sued for not paying for the use of it! What the hell do people think these days? Pay for use of things that do not belong to you or be prepared to be sued.

This is typical of right-wing candidates using music from extremely liberal muscians (never heard of a dem using music without permission) ...not only all the good memes, but all the good songs are written by progressives...

What's funny is the right is all about law and order and protecting business in this country but somehow republicans don't seem to respect intellectual property at all WTF?!?

another republican conundrum...

Obama used the music of both Cyndi Lauper and Sam Moore of Sam & Dave without authorization in his 2012 campaign. It happens.

In this case, Huckabee offered to pay and to apologize, but apparently the copyright owner wants the publicity or to make political points. Get over it.

Finally someone stood up to the BS it sounds like to me. Maybe the entitled pricks will not do it again!

The outrage in both the press and on UHH seems asymmetric.

Huckabee will be OK, but hopefully candidates will learn that art is not free to use at will.

maybe they didn't want the fruits of their creativity and labor to be used to endorse a reactionary republican candidate.

...that's pretty understandable.

hehe... you are right about Cindi...

Controversy: The DNC, led by chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schulz, used Cyndi Lauper's 1986 classic in an attack ad against Mitt Romney titled – surprise! – "True Color." When Lauper found out, she expressed her displeasure on Twitter, writing, "I wouldn't have wanted that song to be used in that way" and "Mr. Romney can discredit himself without the use of my work."
