Is anybody here in the Tucson/Phoenix area planning to be at the Good Guys car show this weekend? I am going up in the morning and see what there is to see.

I was there when they opened the gates this morning. By 11:30 there were so many people walking around you couldn't get any shots without people in the way.
sorry i missed this.. any other happenings in this area coming up? we just returned home and i'd love to find some good nature/wildlife photo opportunities nearby...
thanks
Is this an annual event to plan on?

Arizona Sonora Desert Museum has daily raptor free flight demonstrations at 10:00 A.M. & 2:00 P.M. from October 17th to March 27th. The morning flights are from Chihuahuan Ravens, Great Horned Owls, Prairie Falcons, Ferruginous Hawks, & Red Tailed Hawks. The afternoon session includes Gray Hawks, Barn Owls, Peregrine Falcons, & Harris Hawks. I have been out there for the afternoon show twice and get so involved in watching I forget to take pictures. Both times I was out there it was the Harris Hawks that flew and since they hunt as a family unit it was impressive watching them.
These free flights are done in open desert, not in an enclosed area. The birds don't have the straps hanging from their legs(jesses) & will sometimes fly within 5 feet of you as you stand and watch. The raptors will be rotated by day, but not time.
There is also the Sulphur Springs Valley area from Wilcox to Douglas that is winter home to about 50,000 Sandhill Cranes. They start arriving in mid October and by this time of year are well settled in the area.
