My better half has a nice little Sony A6000 and would like a tripod for it. Hmmmmm? Sounds like a nice Christmas gift.

Any ideas out there on a nice one? I want to make sure it's stable enough to hold up her camera with. 55-210 lens.

Any help is appreciated.

I have and really like the Slik Pro 400DX. It is not the smallest or lightest - they do make smaller ones - they also make the larger Pro 700DX. Either one is $100-150 if you shop.

Contact MT Shooter here on the HOG. He owns the world's last, best camera emporium, the Camera Cottage. His knowledge and expertise on this subject is second to none. Trust his opinion like it is your own. GL

One needs to decide if you want a travel tripod or one you put in your car and travel to a location. For me I have two tripods because one does not fit both for me.

Also what is the budget? I would vote for Carbon Fiber. If it is a portable tripod I would vote for a Sirui T-2205X 5-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod. It runs $300 and can handle 26 lbs. For you depending upon your requirements, it may work for you.

Can I suggest a rethink here dear boy. Or at least get a lightweight one.
I reckon if Mrs Billy found a tripod under the xmas tree she would attempt to break it over my head before ramming it down my throat or worse still pushing it up you know where!
Are you planning to team this up with a couple of smaller gifts such a pair of oven gloves and a new yard brush?
Think again please as I would like to think you will still be available after the festive period. Jewelry some nice lingerie perfume new shoes but NEVER a tripod.

I got my Ex a gas grill one Christmas..... I thought it was a great idea.... I had my eye on a trolling motor, but decided she would get a bit more use out of the grill ...

On a more serious note.... I love the low cost and surprising sturdy construction of my Ravelli - APGL4 Weighs 8 pounds, holds 17 pounds, has a ball head/trigger grip set up .... extends to 70" tall! ... and dirt cheap .... enough money left over for a Gas Grill! lol

Have a good day.... I'm signing off!

Try Vanguard. They have a quality product and they won't break the bank.

Go to a camera store and look at the various tripods. Then you would know more about the head she would want, weight, height, aluminum vs. carbon fiber, etc. Then contact MT shooter.

Now you know why camera stores are going out of business.

You are right. While they are there he may find what he's looking for and/or pick up something else. That's why some places have "lost leaders" just t get the people in there to see other products for the "I want that buy".
