There are two halves here for me: the lower half with lighter, appealing background - almost walking among clouds - and discernible that is a woman.

The upper half is troubling, though. A harsh brush of dark color obliterating her face, and a raven on her head? It's quite uncomfortable.

However, I am very interested to know your viewpoint, Frank!

No raven.
Nothing hidden in this shot Linda. It is a true reflection shot on the beach after a wave washed up and receded. Top is a double reflection from the shoulders up because of the uneven sand. You are right about walking in the clouds as that's what you are seeing in the lower portion of the frame.

Thanks, Frank. Then it is an interesting capture of what was really there, but still makes me uncomfortable :)

I think this natural abstract is pretty wonderful Frank. Great colors, and I like the difference in texture amongst all the earth elements - water, reflected sky, sand. There is enough "discomfort" as Linda calls it, or mystery, to keep you looking and figuring. At first it bothered me that she has no feet but I got over it, and appreciate exactly what it is. I hope Edie Saul will critique this one, I think she'd do it justice more than I.

In case you've not seen beach reflections here's hopefully a less uncomfortable shot which still needs work. The waviness of the beach surface causes multiple reflections.

I guess the discomfort is not felt by me since I took the shot and know what's what. Thank you for comment minniev.

Very interesting and unique image. I like it. I can't figure out how you did it; but I like it. If I were to nit pick, I'd say that it might be interesting if the figure were not so centered.

Cant see a thing wrong with it Frank. Quite lovely in fact. Great colour superb texture with sensible avoidance to push it too far in PP work. Its pretty obvious what it is so no feelings of discomfort for me at all. Just a well taken near abstract shot very well presented. You could do some great things with this with merges and collage work with a few filters and blend modes chucked at it. Could even perch a raven on her head. Art or doodle it would not matter.
Love it Frank as it is. One of your best

No trick to doing it ebrunner just well timed after a wave. I wanted it just off center but not on the thirds, I'm not sure why.

You may have at it if you wish, I've not the talent yet. I'm humbled by your comments.

The First photo is really interesting.

My suggestion - that is If warranted - would be to make a print with the use of "Watercolor Paper"... It is textured and give the image a different "feel" to the eye. This paper will SUCK-UP the ink - however, on a few prints that I have made with this paper I get really good results. Not many photographers, around here that is, make use of this sort of paper. You never know until you try :-)

James R I don’t know how I missed your last post here but would like you to know both color and B&W of number 1 are well done. The different crop in B&W of the 2nd is by far my favorite. Thank you very much for the tip on the print. My goal it to get good enough to to print some of my images before next years end. Good to see you back would enjoy seeing something.

Edit: Sorry James R, I got my dates wrong and thought that post was from a month ago.

Love the abstract quality about it and the painterly like quality all at the same time. Did you turn it upside down to show this? Very nicely done!
