Holywell Bay, Cornwall - two versions.
Just wondering which version you prefer - same shot, two versions.
I like them both for different reasons. If I had to pick one, it would be the first, but only because it matches my mood better. On a different day I'd likely prefer the second one.
Although #2is interesting and stormy looking, I prefer #1 with its lovely colors.
They both have a beautiful and surreal quality. I think I prefer the dark version. It looks like a storm at night. Both are very cool.
like both - prefer the 1st, Tom

Thanks Heather, love your comment that it depends on your mood - cheers and all the best.

Thanks Sirius_one, I really can't decide, both have their merits.

My preference, though both are excellently executed, would be the second. It combines the elements present with a mood that suits them quite well. The storm clouds lend an air of darkness and foreboding, which isn't represented well in the brighter of the two images.
With the sun peeking in below the clouds on the right, one could imply that the storm was clearing. However, the abundance of cloud cover predominates the image and thus lends the feeling better represented in the second photograph.

I think it depends on what you want to communicate.
#1, definitely. I generally don't care for messing around with God's work!
I like the mood in #1 better, but both are good.

I tend to agree with Ansel Adams. "Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships." - Ansel Adams

Of the two, I prefer #1 because it seems more natural, while still conveying the feeling of drama in the clouds. Frankly, #2 seems a bit "over cooked" to me.
