Has anyone else tried using a WD My Cloud as a Lightroom storage folder?

The following post made earlier today and the way my mind sometimes travels while driving has given me the title question. I have a WD My Cloud & a WD My Cloud Mirror and it occurred to me after reading the post by jwestman

that I might just try going on a weekender and seeing if I can edit on the road and save to my Lightroom folder on my external drive. If it works I just might pat myself on the back one time.

I did export while on the road, I actually used my personal hotspot on my phone, couldn't use the provided weak wifi. It worked however slow and it used significant data.

As it has rained this morning my weekend trip was shortened and I came home. The WD My Cloud worked fairly well, the Mirror not so much. They both have a sync feature for documents, music, & photos. This worked well with both of the drives. The merging with Lightroom has been a bit of a struggle. I have found though a solution that seems to work. It is a folder on my computer called Pre Lightroom. By using that folder I can send files(edited & un edited) to my computer at home. I can then when I get home am able to import to Lightroom; edits included. Since I have Nikon transfer/view2 on my laptop the files are automatically sent to the Pre Lightroom folder when they are loaded to my computer thru Nikon Transfer. That folder is auto synced to the Pre Lightroom folder on the desk computer when I access the My Clouds. It is not the best way, but it does work.
