On a Shoe String ...$30 Program & $150 Canon SX50

I must admit that HDR was a mystical area of photography that I stayed away from... too complicated!! Well, No... it is one of my custom settings on my camera... C1 shoots Raw and Apeture Priority give me the files needed. AND it allows me to shoot "hand holding" my camera!! Have had it for more than a month, like it. Rather than being reactive down load a trial.

The thing that I note at my first attempt using the German HDR program were pleasing. I did preliminary comparisons to other HDR programs and was pleased with the versatility of this Project 3 program. My biggest complaint would be that tutorials and often information is in German or German accent. But the program is intuitive enough ... so language not a real problem. Google will translate if needed.

BEFORE? well, the shots were in RAW using a Canon SX50. Sun going down... oops direct into camera. Of course,

HDR projects 3 professional now $30, I have it and it is excellent. No, not the “American Standard” it is the Euro Standard. Easy to use and excellent results… nope, I am a pleased owner of the program and not a employee.

Glad it's working out for you , Don. HDR software opens up a whole new path with your photo processing, both when you plan ahead and bracket a shot or just tweak the exposure on a single RAW file. Time to go have some fun now :-D

I too recently downloaded that program and while I did have a little problem with the install, they were very helpful. I have played with it for a week now and I too like it. Especially at the $30 price tag. My only gripe, and it's a small gripe is they don't have a lot of presets. I am enjoying it and glad to see others have found it too.

Dan, it has bracketing +/- 2 built in and can take both raw and jpeg suitable for HDR. Not sure about the software that came with the camera.

The SX50 can be temporarily Firmware Hacked to give a wider range of abilities. Likewise, PSE 6-14 can be mod by "elements plus" for only $12. Big world out there!!

Presets... to a point correct, but of course we export and then do post processing. Below are for those who do not have the program... the input and processing options. Additionally each raw has its adjustments.

Input Screen for HDR

I have CHDSK on mine and use it a lot to do time lapse sure saves a lot of wear and tear on the 5Dii, also has motion detect that I have used to capture tree swallows landing on the birdhouse perches..

I thought the SX50 did the processing of the HDR so you do not need to use software..
