Now that we have cameras with much greater sensitivity, I'd like to request that someone with a Sony A7s i or ii begin making videos of nocturnal animals, such as the Kiwi. Since they only move around in their habitat at night, and electronic flash will kill them, Kiwis should be a very interesting. To do nocturnal photography well, it is not merely a matter of having a sensitive camera. I'm sure there are those here who have at least some limited experience with night photography can make suggestions with regard to other equipment necessary.
I should have also said that this coming Spring I plan to rent an a7s and do some nocturnal photography. Kiwis are not found in the USA, but there are lots of nocturnal animals to be found, particularly in wooded areas. Any suggested additional equipment or strategies from those with experience will be appreciated.

If you are keen to photograph kiwi during the day you can do so on Stewart Island. They aren't nocturnal there, but it can be difficult to get to the areas where they are easily seen e.g. Masons Bay.
It is recommended to use a red light for nocturnal wild life viewing as it does not seen to startle animals as much. You could look at rigging up some red LEDs or applying a red filter to some white ones as a light source. I have not tried this but have successfully used a red LED torch for viewing kiwi and other nocturnal wild life.
Either way you should have some fun nutting out a solution
