Russian Cobalt Torpedo would render entire coast completely dead.

Remember when obama ridiculed Romney and said:

(obama) "You said Russia. Not Al Qaida. You said Russia,” Obama said regarding biggest threats. “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because…the cold war’s been over for 20 years.”

Romney offered a powerful retort: “Russia, I indicated, is a geopolitical foe…and I said in the same paragraph I said and Iran is the greatest national security threat we face. Russia does continue to battle us in the U.N. time and time again. I have clear eyes on this. I’m not going to wear rose-colored glasses when it comes to Russia or Mr. Putin…”

Welcome to Obama's cold war… he said it was yesterdays news , but then he described ISIS as a JV squad....

Russia reveals giant nuclear torpedo in state TV 'leak'.

The "oceanic multi-purpose Status-6 system" is designed to "destroy important economic installations of the enemy in coastal areas and cause guaranteed devastating damage to the country's territory by creating wide areas of radioactive contamination, rendering them unusable for military, economic or other activity for a long time"

Here- read this- hope it bums you out as much as it does me- "told you so" just doesn't make me feel any better at all. I absolutely h**e the man and his inadequacies…. and contempt for those who are stupid enough to support him… Told you so….

Do you really think if Russia fries a nuke at the US that anyone will be left on earth to ruminate over the radiation it caused on the coast? It's 100% game over at that point man...

At any rate, Cobalt bombs aren't new.

"A cobalt bomb is a theoretical type of "salted bomb": a nuclear weapon designed to produce enhanced amounts of radioactive fallout, intended to contaminate a large area with radioactive material. The concept of a cobalt bomb was originally described in a radio program by physicist Leó Szilárd on February 26, 1950.[1] His intent was not to propose that such a weapon be built, but to show that nuclear weapon technology would soon reach the point where it could end human life on Earth, a doomsday device.[2][3] Such "salted" weapons were requested by the U.S. Air Force and seriously investigated, but not deployed. In the 1964 edition of the DOD/AEC book The Effects of Nuclear Weapons, a new section titled radiological warfare clarified the "Doomsday device" issue.[4]
As far as is publicly known, no cobalt bombs have ever been built. The Operation Antler/Round 1 test by the British at the Tadje site in the Maralinga range in Australia on September 14, 1957 tested a bomb using cobalt pellets as a radiochemical tracer for estimating yield. This was considered a failure and the experiment was not repeated.[5] Furthermore the triple "taiga" nuclear salvo test, as part of the preliminary March 1971 Pechora–Kama Canal project, produced substantial amounts of Co-60, with this fusion generated neutron activation product being responsible for about half of the gamma dose now (2011) at the test site, with photosynthesizing vegetation existing all around the lake that was formed.[6][7]"

Didn't the two Bush presidents show Russia who had the balls in the post cold war world. 41 made Russia stop development of new nukes, and 43 made those c****es dismantle their entire stockpile!

Now Obama the Wimp has put them back in the nuke business again...just when you thought the world was a safe place!!

RichieC, I know you h**e Obama, but why did this leaked "news" from Putin set you off, and what does Obama have to do with it? Dirty bombs have been around for like, decades and decades. Remember the neutron bomb?

Because of the fact that so many ridiculed Romney about his astute an accurate knowledge and used this same stupidity as a reason to v**e for the "ridculer" that is now proved 180° WRONG. The issue is NOT the existence of any nuke- I am well aware of all of them. I lived next to four B-52's loaded with cruise missiles, each of which reportedly contained the same explosive power of all the bombs, bullets and handgrenades all added up in all of WW2... with engines kept warm, and pilots ready to fly in a minutes notice 24/7/365 . I rather enjoyed it when they were turned off. Most peace loving people rejoiced. The knowledgeable ones understood what it actually took to turn them off. It was not weakness and ineptitude.

If they set it the torpedo off, they would be destroyed and turned to glass... IT EXISTENCE WAS NOT THE POINT OF IT BEING "LEAKED" Duh! That it was leaked is. Nobody leaves plans for a top secret doomsday machine out for TV cameras- the intelligent person would ask what is the real message of it being "leaked" .

What it is, is a return to things the way they were. I lament the return to cold war politics, the dread I felt when I contemplated that such a thing exists... but am incensed at the i***ts, all of them... and those who v**ed for the weakness and ineptness and now the excuses and hypocritical and skewed finger pointing by those who have caused this to return.

For those who v**ed for the i***t... aren't you happy it's back? You should be... I am betting you v**ed for it... probably twice.

Aside from the condescending attitude, that's a thoughtful response.

I don't know that Putin wants to return to cold war era geo-political tensions, but he has definitely been flexing Russian muscle more aggressively over the past decade. Some of it has been shows of military strength, some of it has been projecting Russian influence into political situations in geographic areas where the US has traditionally been the power broker wielding influence.

Putin has outsmarted and out maneuvered Obama repeatedly.

That, however, is no great accomplishment. Obama has proven over and over that he is a wimp on the global political stage. Think: -the historic c*****e c****e deal with China where China does nothing for 15 years, the red line in the Syrian sands, the Iran nuke deal, and on and on.

Two of Obama's legacies are going to be related to power. First legacy, overreaching for political power in the executive branch via Executive Orders on the domestic stage. Second, giving away US political and military power on the international stage.

p.s. If I were you Richie, I would not take up betting as a habit.

Russia has been low key for years building within while we have been squandering ransacking from within. War after war proxy wars here and there.
What have we accomplished as a nation. Nothing but bitter infighting along with what I have mentioned above.
