NIK & El Capitan (MAC)

Just a heads up:

Was having intermittent problems after up-grading to El Capitan (MAC). Email & talking to Google for about a week and the answer according to rep Kato,

"it is important to keep in mind that since the Nik Collection is not yet fully compatible with El Capitan..."

And then gives some work-arounds.

I responded that I would wait for the auto-update of the NIK software.

Been using the Nik Collection with El Cap for a while now. No issues.

When I use NIK from within a collection it sometimes does not re-load LR or carry over some attributes, but shows up in the main folder. At other times it does show the edit photo but loses the color attribute and re-loads LR.

After loading El Capitan, I have had several lockups when using NIK with CS6. I have to force quit CS6 and try again, usually the second time it works. Any clues? I have an IMac.

This is why my upgrade cycle is longer than Apple's!

I waited until Yosemite (OS X 10.10) was up to point revision 10.10.3 before upgrading my Macs. That gave all the software vendors time to update their wares. I'm doing the same now, waiting for 10.11 to hit 10.11.2 or .3...

I learned from three decades of corporate computer usage that users of version X.00 of *anything* take ALL the slings and arrows in the back. Sometimes it is risky to be the cool kid on the block who upgraded first.

We experienced the same thing when Meteor Photo was in Business in Troy,MI. Owning the cutting edge processors was just doing their R&D for the manufacturer under production deadlines-not fun!

I just installed NIK in El Capitan using Lightroom CC. It does not work. It crashes on exit and does not return the completed pic. This seems to happen with any of the NIK tools. Aurora (McPhun software) has display problems in El Capitan that do not show up in Yosemite.

Tell me about it. At Herff Jones Photography Division (now part of Lifetouch), we endured the same. We could probably trade war stories!
