Naval and Military Park at Cannal Side i Buffalo, NY
Being that she is named after a city, does that mean she is Cruiser and served during WW2.

Served on her 50 years ago when she was command ship in the med sea.
looks as though she has seen a lot of miles since then.
I was in the Med also 50 years ago on a Minesweeper (USS Pinnacle MSO 462).

Fresh out of a rebuild in drydock with her shiny new missiles and all the spit and polish of a command ship with admiral living aboard she was a far different ship than what you see there. Prime duty for a young weapons officer just entering manhood.

Built during WWII as CL92, finished too late to see use in combat. Put into reserve fleet in 49. Then in 57 brought out of reserve and converted to CLG 4 (guided missile cruiser) and given an admirals suite etc to make her a command ship. In 75 redesignation as CG4.
Decommissioned in 76, went to Buffalo for exhibit in 77, still there.
