Topaz Texture Effects - $49.99 as an introductory offer, $69.99 thereafter. Comes with 275 installed textures and access to a Community Forum where new textures are uploaded daily and may be downloaded and applied instantly (at no extra cost). I think they took their cue from Smart Photo Editor who has been doing the same thing for about 4 years now.

Kinda pricey, I thought, when you can do the same sort of thing for yourself at no cost.

I got my invitation from TOPAZ today for Texture Effects. I am tempted. Is the software worth the money?

Actually, I'd say "No" pixbyjnphotos. I've taken it for a spin and it doesn't impress me at all. I have the same capabilities in Smart Photo Editor, which does a whole lot more for you.

I agree Randy. If they want to boost their revenue stream, they should try fixing Out Of Focus. Even a seamless telephone wire removal tool would be worth spending money on.

I've tried all kind of removal tools and the best one in my opinion is the one in CC.( band-aid) then for large removals I utilize content aware, with a slight blur afterwards.

I gave Topaz Texture Effects a quick trial myself. I kind of like it. I had trouble running it as a stand-alone program. It died every time I tried to save my work. However, it performed beautifully as a plugin to 64 bit Corel Paintshop Pro Ultimate X8. Here is an example of Texture Effects results. The original photo is straight out of the camera only to be resized and cropped to 8x10. The variant photo was post processed only by Topaz Texture Effects as a plugin to PSP X8. What I like about Texture Effects is there are many adjustments to vary any and all presets. I found it very easy to use. I do have Smart Photo Editor and it works pretty well. I find three things a little frustrating with Smart Photo Editor. First, it takes a lot of time looking through 500 pages of presets to find one to your satisfaction. I know that you can search on a category to narrow that down some. Second, many of the presets have only a Master Fade adjustment. Nothing like all the adjustments available in Texture Effects. Third, there are so many presets that are so far-fetched I would never ever use them at all. I am still not convinced that Texture Effects is worth the $49.00 cost much less the $69.00 after Nov 20th. Have a GREAT DAY!

A little lost on this one as to why people are going to buy this. The net has countless 1000's of free textures available and any software with layers will easily add them to an image which you can then adjust using all the tools in Paintshop or Photoshop.
So whats this actually got going for it for $50?

I agree Billy. I tried another photo last night. Spent some time on it and the program crashed when passing it back to PSP. Lost my work on the photo. It is a big memory hog and my computer is not quite up to par for Texture effects. With all the other tools I have I really don't need Texture Effects. So, this one goes away. I am not going to buy it nor do I recommend it to anyone else. Have a GREAT DAY!
