I again downloaded Capture NX-D, ViewNX-1 and Nikon Message Center 2 and succeeded in installing them.
According to Windows 10 compatibility announcement in the Nikon Knowledge base, they are compatible.

I had it on my computer when I upgraded to W10. It work fine initially but didn't after awhile.
I reloaded sometime later and it still didn't work. I'll have to try it again.

Just tried for the third time and couldn't install it.
Nikon said they would provided an NX-I that would allow editing similar to View NX2 but they didn't deliver.
They may be good with cameras but they suck at software. The only redeeming quality is their Raw conversion.

traveler90712, I am using View NX2 under Windows 10 - but for JPEGs only. Works fine with JPEGs. I use Lightroom 5.7 for RAW(NEF) images. I find using View NX2 for RAW images a tad confusing. Maybe it is because it is so different from Lightroom. -FiddleMaker

What was your OS before Win10?

I have had no problems. I have View NX, Capture NX, Capture DX? , Nikon Image Space, and Camera Control Pro all working correctly and doing updates.. I have used Camera control tethered to both my Windows 10 upgraded Laptop and to my large machine (both upgraded from Windows 7) The large machine was Windows 7 Ultimate and the other was Windows 7 Pro, and all work correctly. And this was all from the upgrade without having to do anything special for them. Knock on wood.

no problem here, with win 10 & viewnx, anyway. message center isn't running, but i may have shut that down as an annoyance.

Thanks. I've seen that before and it doesn't change anything for me and some others.
I read a post where this person removed all their Nikon software and cleaned the registry of all traces and still got the same error messages and it wouldn't load.
I've done nearly the same and still it won't load. Suspect it has something to do with how the switches on the apps are configured. There are so many and its hardly worth the effort to go through each and the repeat the download process so many times.
Perhaps I'll get lucky and someone will stumble across a solution. Meanwhile I use View NX2 for culling images a tweak with other programs.

I hesitated for a long time to install Windows 10 over Windows 7, but, finally took the plunge. To be honest, I did not like most of the features of Windows 10. I stuck it out for a while, but it caused too many problems so I used the option to revert back to 7.
It did not take long until my computer would no longer start, not even in Safe mode. I had no choice but to re-install windows 7. Thank goodness I had backups of my photos, music and other important files. Even so, I did the backup suggested during the process which used 27 DVDs. I'm now back up and running with 7 and have a very clean machine that is running twice as fast as it did before.

Ralloh, I did not know that it is possible to install a previous version of Windows. Back in 2010 I had Windows 7 which I liked (but not nearly as much as Windows XP) then Windows 8 to 8.1 (horrible) and now Windows 10. My preference now would be Windows 7. Did you have to completely re-format your computer before re-installing W7 ? ~FiddleMaker

During the process of trying to start Windows, it would give me the option to re-install to factory settings. In other words like it came out of the box. I finally chose to do that because even my rescue disks would not work.
What happens is, it uses the CAB files, usually stored in drive D, which is all the compressed files of your operating system. It completely wipes everything out, so, I'll assume was some kind of formatting. Although a bit of a hassle, having my backup data was no problem re-installing after it was done. What took the longest was re-installing programs, but, it also forced me to reassess which programs I actually needed and used.
Everything is running great now. I did discover, though, that my copy of Nikon Capture NX2 would not work right if I installed it from my original disk. I ended up downloading it again from Nikon and just plugging my product key into it. That made it work just fine.
