One of my goals this past summer was to get some respectable hummingbird pictures. The birds were in shorter than normal supply and I never seemed to be in the right place at the right time. So, I turned to my other hobby and made my own hummingbird. Making it was a chore but photographing was really easy.
Very nice. You have a real talent!

You made that! How sweet. Absolutely wonderful hummer pic as well. Tough capture.
Outstanding Dennis! What is the name of this art form? Where you take pieces of different woods to emulate shades of color then combine them in small pieces to create an image?
Intarsia! That's the art form ..... and you're really good at it Dennis.
Thanks, Bob. This was my very first attempt at intarsia and I could have done with a smaller one. But it was a good experience and practice for some Christmas items.

Thank you. The bird itself is about 10 inches long and doesn't move very fast so the photo wasn't very challenging.
Nicely, done, Dennis, and you nailed him, lol! I'm always impressed by the quality of the hummers I see posted here, and yours is no exception. Excellent work, both in the making and the shooting!

Thanks, Rob. It was my first attempt at intarsia and close inspection would show some flaws.

Still, there is considerable skill shown; again, well done!

Found it Dennis. Very good work. I have done a few that look like this. I didn't know what they were called.:) If I see something some one did, I try to make one.:) Some times they come out and some times not so good.:):) I am always out in the shop playing around with something. It is my get away from life. Janny has to ask to come in.:):):)
