Missing.
There's a dying breed...kids aren't interested in making pocket money any more. The last time a neighborhood kid knocked on my door after a snowstorm and offered to shovel my driveway was 4 years ago. He made a quick $5.00 for 15 minutes work...hadn't seen one since.
We used to do that to earn spending money for Christmas. Grandson gets up early every morning to shovel horse shyte for the lady down the street

Why work when mommy and dad will give them pocket money for doing nothing. :(

The teaching of a basic step in life....get out and earn something for your work. The young people today do not want to work. There are exceptions kids from strong family ties will work and do a good job.

That's funny, but unfortunately true....
A few years ago, my younger daughter decided she wanted to make some money. So she bundled up, grabbed our shovel and started going house to house to find someone to pay her to shovel out their driveway.
An elderly gentleman did hire her, and my daughter did a great job. The only problem she had was the old man kept calling her "son" and did not realize that she is female.
We had a good laugh over that, she still make good money.
And for those curious, when not bundled up, you would recognize her as a beautiful teenage girl with long hair down to the middle of her back.
So these young ambitious kids still do exist.
