Last week's weather was amazing and I've walked the tunnel. It's longer than it looks, but the side tunnels are amazing! S-

They let people walk through that tunnel? Did you work for Cal Trans? I don't think I would walk through that tunnel unless it was closed to traffic, no matter how cool it was.

In the video above, there's a small walkway on the left. It's more or less a raised platform where the cables and water runoff flow, but it's shoulder width and mad exciting to walk. The interesting part though are the two side vents that are large enough to walk through.
When there last week we walked out one and noticed a mineral vein making what looked like iron stalactites, but the view was the most interesting thing. The video is not mine, but gives you a feeling of how they look.

I couldn't see the walkway in the video and it's been since B-52 training at Castle AFB in Merced which was in the early 70's so I don't remember that much about it. I didn't remember it being so long. It's over 4200 feet.
I remember being wowed by the view at the scenic overlook it's like the classic view of Yosemite. If you can't spend time in the park itself at least stop at the overlook, it gives you 3 of the most famous features of Yosemite in one view, absolutely breathtaking.

I remember that tunnel. I was there earlier this year.
