I could never get away with the cockeyed background but somehow you make it seem like it’s suppose to be that way Mr. Hill. You caught every bit of expression this guy’s emitting and the blur of the 80 could not have been captured any better. Just a great shot.

Thanks Frank. Decided not to mess with it a lot.

When you get it right it doesn't need much messing with Mr. Hill.

The main character and the inclusion of the shoulder in the bottom right is masterful my man. Its worth returning to to reduce some highlights in the background I reckon. Not sure the notice board behind him is doing it any favors but that's a large chunk of wall to replace. Focus on the eyes is quite amazing for 20th of a second. The VR on that camera certainly works fella.

Vibration reduction. Built into lenses with Nikon Canon and camera body with Oly Sony Pentax.
Camera compensates for slight movement when you shoot at slow shutter speeds.

I think that is a great portrait. It has a wonderful feel to it. I would suggest that the background needs to be less obtrusive and there is a round something that seems to be growing out of his helmet. If you could make those items less obvious, this would really pop. I think I would also crop out the shoulder of the guy he's looking at. It is obvious that he is interacting with someone; but the shoulder is not necessary to convey that message. Nice work.

Wish these brands would get together.

What is that camera
Which makes no sound exposing
An unshaken world.

Thanks for your suggestions. I could remove them all but decided to leave it as the camera saw it. I might still make some of you ideas happen but I will ask the fellow whose photograph this is before making any decision to do that. After all, this is his favorite environment and he may want that stuff left in. His choice.

Thanks for the compliment - much appreciated.

I've often thought it ought to be called "NP" (No Pod) or "HISDI" (Hold It Still Damn It)
And I can't wait to see the image you choose to go with that haiku! ;)

The little poem is for this discussion of shake reduction with my Oly - which I had no idea existed.
