I have been using Google+ Photos since day one, although it is possible to pick faults with the app, I cannot really fault it.
I consider that is an excellent piece of software and provides an perfect method to back up and organise my photos as well as the usual back up methods.
I also think the editing tools are very good, especially the "Pop" slider, I don't know how it works but it certainly does, I tend to use "Auto" and compare but usually reduce the "Vignette" to zero and adjust the other sliders as required.
I also do use a mainstream PP er as well.

I will have to give it a try, I am also thinking about upgrading my on one suite to version 10 and using that as a replacement to my adobe creative cloud subscription. they appear ti be a stand alone program with a browser/ organizer

I use the ON1 10 app and it has some excellent features such as Perfect Eraser and it's portrait functions. However, it does not have the range of adjustments for the standard stuff, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, etc. as does LR CC. It can work OK as a stand alone, but not as well as LR.

Right. I've settled on Google Photos, too. I seldom take pictures with my phone, but when I do, they go straight to GP. I use it mainly for sharing with individuals or groups, never any editing, though.
My one concern is the storage limit. I'm at 26%. I guess I'll have to start deleting. Deleting from GP will also delete from my phone, I believe.
how much storage do you get? I still like having local storage of my images. right now I have 4 four Tb external drive I keep images on. and crashplan for offsite back up
any given time I have about 1500 active photos meaning ones I an editing so google would be a good place fo store thise as an extra back up

I too use Google+ for all mobile phone photos. Take the shots, be in wi-fi and allow Google to suck them up at 2080. Not bad really - and terrific for sharing (and any photos I share I usually hear back "oh so clear!"
When time permits, I access the photos and organize them into Google Photos Collections to match (in name) my Lightroom Collections so there is a consistency.
