Can someone tell me which is a really good photo retouch tutorial? Looking for one that deals mostly with old, damaged photos. Doesn't have to be free, just a good detailed one. Thanks if you can!

Have you searched YouTube for specific instruction?

All the tutorials are pretty short as the techniques are simple, but can be time consuming.

Adobe has one posted for using PhotoShop.

Thanks for the replies, I can always depend on you guys. Note: I am mainly interested in fixing creases and other blemishes on faces where the content aware features don't work. What do you think of Lynda's tutorials?

If that is all you are looking to do, the clone tool will do it.

I saw a short tutorial today from Lynda's, on a different topic. It seemed very professional. But a little practice with the clone tool on copies of a few of your images might be all you need. As long as you are using copies you have nothing to lose but a little time.

Good Luck.

You might find what you look for at CambridgeinColour.com. They present material in generic terms, not by program brand names. They also get outside the box, which is sort of where you are going with this. Good luck, hope this helps you.

Thanks all. Clone works ok except when the crease or blemish is on a face. Selecting a good part of a face then repositioning it over the crease seems to work. Working on the technique.

You can do that with the clone tool. Just uncheck "aligned" in the options bar.

I have been looking at tutorials from PHLEARN.com with reference to photoshop elements 14. I have been using pse since pse 8.0 but never really learned how to use it seriously. Recently starting studying pse 14 and I'm not doing well. Anyway you might find a tutorial at phlearn.com for editing and repairing damaged photos. Good luck.

I watched some on lynda.com - restoring old photos. There are 1,981 courses available about restoration. Try it free for a week and see how you like it. Then you get unlimited viewing for a month for $25.00. These courses run for an hour or more.

Have you tried frequency separation and possibly luminosity masks? Not good for everything but I find them quite useful on occasion.

There are many fee tutorials available.

The examples up above suggested by cm65 are great for what you want to do.
