Renting Lenses??

I am looking to rent a telephoto lens with a max reach to 500-600mm.

I am using a canon T4i. Can someone direct me to one or more reputable sites where I can accomplish this? The lens need not be Canon brand; I would certainly try a Tamron or Sigma lens. If you have direct personal experience with the site, that would be best.

Thanks

I just checked "Lens rental" on the forum search feature. Lots of stuff there if you don't get enough responses.

Your neighboring town Peoria has several camera shops. Have you contacted them about equipment rentals? Picking up and dropping off may be more convenient than shipping back and forth.

I have used Lensrental several times and they have always delivered as promised. They often run specials, so watch for those as well.

Thanks DaveO, I looked as you suggested and found several options I will look into. I should have tried that first, I guess, but I'm starting to get that "senior-itis" disease of not thinking too clearly all the time.

There could be more current info in response to your post, I'm not blowing you off.

It would have been a good idea for me to rent and test a few before buying. I'm happy with them all, but it makes more sense when buying the bigger items. Happy hunting!!

Thanks for the suggestion, Rook, I know of only two camera shops in Peoria that deal with non-professionals, one has downsized in a big way and pretty much sells used equipment only and has a limited inventory. The owner told me he is working it down towards retirement. The other shop is one I have purchased from several times (cameras, lenses, filters, tripos, etc) and have recently had problems dealing with them, so I have been limiting my activity with them to only what is necessary.

I've rented lenses and cameras from lensrentals.com numerous times. I've been impressed with them. They clean every item when it comes back from being rented - even the sensors in digital cameras. They include a prepaid return shipping label in the box to make returns easy. There are others like borrowlenses.com but I don't have experience with them.

Good morning neighbor. I have used Borrow Lenses several times. Their rates are reasonable and they Fedex directly to your door and all the return paperwork is included for a hassle free transaction. By the way, if you are on Facebook, I would like to invite you to join the "Peoria Area Photographers Society". We are a group of photographers who get together on Facebook and share our work and ideas and occasionally get together for group shoots. Last night we has a group Lightpainting shoot at a farm outside of Hannah City. It got a little cold but everyone had a great time. Check us out.

Peoria? Is Big Al's still open? Used to be a great place for entertainment. No cameras were allowed.

You might look up MTSHOOTER here on the site. I don't know if he ships out for rentals, but he has a store and I have gotten great advice from him! And bought from him also.

David, Big Al's is still open and is bigger than ever. The city bought out the whole block where they used to be so they could build a fancy new hotel complex to cater to the convention business. The city then sold the club's owners another piece of city owned property on S Jefferson St two blocks North of the ballpark. They built a brand new building and went way upscale like a little piece of Vegas in the Midwest. It is perhaps the classiest strip club outside of Chicago. It is a definite must see the next time you are in town.
