Hi everyone , looking for some good advise so where else would one come for that? but here, (smile)
I have a choice of two older printers listed in title, which one is the better photo printer? anyone have any experience with these two? thanks for any help you can give ! These are the only ones in question I know there are other good printers out there ,so if price was the same or close , which would be my better buy? Quality first thought.

Compare features here. Roll paper vs cut paper.
2200 = http://www.amazon.com/Epson-Stylus-Photo-Printer-C11C387011/dp/B000067V0A
1900 = http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011G47PQ/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=1944687702&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000067V0A&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1NWWBA4K5MNZC3YMPMS2

What do you plan to do with the printer... ya, I know Print... individual, business, exhibitor, home wall hanging, etc.
"I want to do the following xyz with my photos which is best?"
I did not read about either but I gather from Nikonian72 simple statement, that one does roll paper and the other not.

Been using Epson printers for years.Still do.
The 2200 was the worst I ever owned. I never got it to print colors properly.
I bought it refurbished from Epson years ago.
I recently gave it away after cleaning the dust off it.

I bought an R1900 over 5 yrs ago to replace an R800 that ended up with head problems. I also wanted something larger than 8 1/2 x 11. I don't do a lot of printing lately, so for the last year or so, I run a head check every week and have had to do a clean just once. If I have a large job, I farm it out to WHCC. I don't think I will ever have to reset or replace the ink pad. Also only use Epson inks. I will buy Epson again if this one bites the dust. No experience with the 2200.

Yes, I believe so. The 2200 was 7 inks. 1900 is 8 and both have been discontinued. Epson site says 1900 was replaced with R2000 (8 inks). Just google them both and you'll be able to put together a time line and find the R1900 is still available.

The 2200 come out in 2002 The r1900 in 2008 and was replaced with the r2000.

Another question is; when were the printers last use and do you have the printer knowledge to get one up and running? If they have been idle for sometime, a extreme nozzle cleaning will likely be needed.

That could mean, knowing how to safely inject cleaning fluid into the printer head, via the ink ports where the cartridges connect.

Back in April, it took two weeks to get a good nozzle check on a r1800. The owner said, the printer had been idle for six months.

OEM ink was always used.
