Transfer photos from/to Lightroom from Photos

I am thinking of trying Lightroom.Is it a simple process to transfer photos from/to Photos and Lightroom.My family uses Photos and I want to continue to communicate with them.

NO, NO, DON't even try it.
OK, let me qualify that statement. If you are working on photos in both systems then the above is true. If you just want to edit in LR and view in Photos, no worries, just export from LR to a folder and copy to photos. But again don't try to edit in both programs. Use only one like LR to catalog and edit.
