Having plenty of time on my hands until I get on the road again I am back tracking over some of the stuff I rejected at the time. This is one I took late afternoon and I liked mainly for the detail in the clouds and the hint of the Belle Toute lighthouse on the cliff top, but I felt it lacked interest generally.
The cloud formation is a good capture, with the sunlight streaming through the cloud.
The shadowing effect on the water adds some interest.
Its unfortunate that there is not more detail in the foreground and the horizon is sloping down to the left slightly.
Never-the-less well taken

Geoff, this is everything I would have said.

Very dramatic Geoff. Almost got religious undertones to it... like the Second Coming ;)

Me too Geoff,excellent shot.
Geoff you must not reject pictures like this its very nice.
Thanks for back tracking and showing.
This is beautiful! The massive clouds dwarfing the lighthouse puts the power of nature vs. the power of man into perspective.
I do like the scene. I'm bothered by the colors however. Looks to sepia, which I don't care for in a sky.

Mate this is stunning!
Well done, Geoff. Your rejects would make my top ten list.
I'm going to agree with you, Geoff. I love the scene, the color, the clouds, and the light on the water. They're all fantastic, and make for a beautiful shot. But there's nothing that really grabs the eye to pull us in. Had there been a boat, a lighthouse or building in one corner, even a person standing there and absorbing the beauty of the scene, or a dog with a Frisbee in its mouth, this one would be on everyone's wall.
Without out that, tho, you're right--it's pretty, but...
There have been a couple of topics recently in the For Your Consideration forum about focal points. I agree that having at least one takes an image to another level.
However, I enjoy the beauty of nature so much that I would have been thrilled to witness this scene, as well as to capture it as you have.
Horizon line is slightly tilted, but mood, colors, light and sparkle are eye-candy!
