Well, my wife suggested that, since we have a few days off, we should go up to the Adirondacks. I got up this morning early and came up with this shot. I like it; but I'm not sure about the sky. Looks murky. Could be the lifting mist. Anyway, I'm sorry about not keeping up with all your wonderful photos. I'll get back to it soon. Promise.

I think it's nice. Sometimes the sky is that way - particularly in low light.

Wow Ed what a fantastic shot. I love the change in the sky color from the sun. Nice color pallet in this shot. Very peaceful and well composed. One of my favorite places. Went there every other weekend in the winter for years.

I find no issue with the murky sky look, but the transition from the warm light to cooler light on the right I think could use a more feathered transition……it should look more like the left side. Possible small crop in from the right eliminating the right tree may also be a bit more appealing. This in my opinion is a wall hanger shot ebrunner. I’m sure your used to this coming from me but if you try all that flip it.

The sky makes the picture in my opinion Erich, especially in download.
Well done!

I've got to learn to look at photo first, read OP's comments second as I'm often not sure if I'm being influenced by what OP says :)

The scene is gorgeous, but I'm not loving the lack of transition to blue. I'd be interested in seeing a little less saturation in the yellow. I could be totally wrong in that suggestion :)

Thanks. Must have been the mist. Colors are interesting; but not the reds and oranges that one might expect.

Thanks, Doc. I took about fifteen sets of 3 bracketed exposures. The light was changing every two minutes or so. The set that I took this from was my favorite. Merged the three bracketed exposures in LR and then did some tweeking. Glad you liked it.

I see what you mean about the warm and cool colors. Hadn't noticed that before. Thank you very much. Are you suggesting a crop to where the two trees on right meet at the top? That might just work. My wife has already made an order for this one to be printed and hung. The more I look at it, the more I like it. THank you for your time and very good suggestions.

Thanks, Pierre. You know a thing or two about landscapes, so I'll just figure I must be on the right track. Much appreciated.

I'm really pleased that you liked it. I was very pleased with the composition when I took the shot. The colors and the muddled sky worried me a bit; but it is really growing on me. THank you for your time and comments.

I can't remember the last time you were "totally wrong" about a photo. I think, gathering from what people have said, that transition could use some work. I would like to hang this one; so I'll work on it and re post it. For now, I'm waiting for the sun to go down so that I can try some star trails tonight. Should be fun.

Erich,
I'm liking this a lot..including the sky. Looks like early post-sunrise burn-off of a bit of fog. Excellent composition with good FG detail. In all, a definite hanger!

I'm thinking you meant this for me Erich. Yes and in your final assessment please don't discount the flip unless this is some great land mark of which I'm unaware.
