I was unable to attend the summit but was wondering how it went, and what the possibilities are for a second year. Was it crowded? Were the fields sessions and break out sessions a success or were there too may people trying to go to a particular area? What were your overall impressions?

Below is the link for the summit which took place Oct 28 thru Nov 1st. I was wondering how it went and the possibilities of it becoming an annual thing.

I just heard of it late last week, else I would have like to scheduled it. My understanding from Matt Kloskowski is that it will be an annual event.

I was there. The only sessions that were full were the keynote main speaker and group programs that pertained to everyone. Most programs were repeated twice and you could figure out your own schedule of what wanted to attend. Each of us had two field sessions with the two pros you wanted. They had a vendor area and I bit on my first full frame Nikon. Weather was not real good. We photographed rivers and small waterfalls in the rain. I did get my first milky way images on the only really clear night.

They are looking to hold it again next year. I believe it is in the planning stages but don't expect any information for several months.

I had attended several workshops with one of the Pros that was part of the program. He notified us in his newsletter.

we had people from all over the country. I drove down from Wisconsin. You fellows from Kentucky and Tennessee got it nice with a fairly short drive to the Sokies.

Were you only allowed to go to 2 field sessions? Where did the field sessions go? I now live in Arkansas but previously lived in East Tennessee. I wondered where 200 or so photographers could go at any given time.

We picked which pros we wanted to go out with. They allowed two outings each because of the numbers. The sessions were Wed,Thurs,Sat and Sun from 7am to 11am. In addition they had self guided sessions and provided instructions on how to get there.
I noticed that in many cases we found ourselves in groups of 50-75 photographers some probably followed us out and some were from different workshops all together. For the sunrise photo on Wednesday I'm guessing there were at least 50 or more in a long line. The night sky-milky way shoot had at least 50 with one instructor Snake Barrett.
