When I was running the trial of W10 I needed to format my drive at one point. I off-loaded all of my files to skydrive and Adrive.
Adrive was offering around 50 gigs for free with a 100 gig trial for a couple of months.
I just logged in this morning to retrieve my files and was told that they'd canceled the free option. If I want my files I'd have to pay for them.
There was an option to beg for a week extension which I did. Honestly, I don't remember what pictures I had on the Adrive so I can live without them I guess.
But I just have to say wow. There have been discussions here on the hog about backing up files to the cloud and there were warnings about fly by night storage companies. Lesson learned--until the next time.
I'm so sorry you are being tutored by the School of Hard Knocks. I'm a big proponent of terabyte hard drives. It's not as dusty as that shoebox under the bed and easier to get to... no spiders or dust bunnies to fight. I hope you manage to recover your files without too much trouble and expense. There should be a way you can punch somebody's nose for this kinda behavior. :( I'm pretty sure the only thing intended to be stored in clouds is rain!!!:)
I have been using Carbonite for several years now and have been very pleased with it. It does everything automatically. Does cost approx. $50 per year, however. I have always worried about all that "free" cloud stuff, remembering that age old axiom "you get what you pay for!"

That's a shame. You'd think companies would stand by their original offer. Even if they cancelled the free option, you signed up for it, so it should still apply.
For future reference, Flickr offers 1TB for free, Amazon Prime offers unlimited photo storage, and Google Photos - unlimited photos, maybe.

The flickr terabyte is only for photos.
For backup purposes you will want to save everything. Not just photos. Surely you do more on your computer than just photography?

buy an external usb hard drive.. backup (copy) everything except programs on it.. Inexpensive and nothing goes out your door where anyone can ever see it. use "xcopy" with the /m switch,, set it up in a batch file on your desktop.. takes maybe 2-5 seconds to update before you close down every day.. xcopy will copy Only the files that have been either created or changed since the last time you ran it, takes a bit of time the first time, after that almost none... and if you are really concerned about sensitive date, dont plug it in when on line...

Sounds like false advertising, may want to talk with your Attorney General.

I'm not a lawyer, but I wonder if there's still a copy available of the Electronic Agreement you "signed." If so, does it spell out the conditions of precisely what "free storage" means or something else along those lines? Regardless, I agree, go straight to the State Attorney General.
If that doesn't result in the retrieval of your data or some equivalent tangible benefit, I recommend you find one of the individuals responsible for this act and perform a bilateral orchiectomy w/o the benefit of any anesthesia. You may want to forgo the standard approach employed by Urologists and simply incise the scrotum directly. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that in this case, maintaining hemostasis during the procedure is optional.

I stored nothing but pictures on the Adrive. I really don't have much other than pictures.
Resumes, tax files, unfinished novel....that stuff is on my skydrive.
Most of my family pictures from the first 7 or so years of my marriage are on my skydrive.
Most of my model mayhem files are on the skydrive as well.
I believe the Adrive has my sister-in-law's wedding and shoots I've done for people in California. But since recently finding out what they really think about me, I don't care about losing those images. As luck would have it, all of my Minnesota images are saved on the Adrive.
But live and learn.
I did have a good laugh at the description of medical procedures.

I've been using backblaze.com for about a year + at this point. 95USD for two years, not upload limit, no data limit. The others restricted upload to so much per day, after a certain limit was hit. Therefore, backblaze was my choice.

Call me a Luddite, call me backward, call me what you wish, but I have NOTHING to do with the Cloud. In multiple hard drives I trust.
