This guy was really small I did not see him but for him moving. This is shot 1:1 with my Kiron 100mm on a Cropped sensor D7100 and further cropped to about 1/8 th of the captured frame. Two images posted one of the critter and one exposed for his opalescence. I hope it uploads as well as it looks on my screen.

Do you have other examples taken with this lens? Perhaps some taken @ 1:1 with minimal cropping?

Thanks

I generally do not crop to enlarge but may tidy up an image from time to time. Click on my name and you should see my data and click on topics lists and you will see all my macro submissions. the Lens is a Lester Dine 105 mm f2.8 dental lens that was sold with a ring flash it was made by Kiron. It is a manual F mount lens. It has a cult following and more than a few Hedgehogs use it.

Douglass, I have a question you may be able to answer. It just occurred to me that my Kiron 105mm is rated 1:1 on a full frame 35mm sensor. I assume that the ratio does not change even thou the sensor is smaller on my D7100. Am I correct or is the image greater than 1:1?

Not Douglas, but I can answer. Still 1:1 just cropped. What this means is that you can fit a larger creature on an FX sensor-- and still be at 1:1.

Correct.
A 1:1 capture of a 24-mm diameter U.S. Quarter coin will fill a 16-mm x 24-mm APS-C sensor from side-to-side.

Side-by-side, the images LOOK different, but are actually the same magnification.
